The gallery brings contemporary editions by Rita Ackermann, George Condo, Rashid Johnson, Mark Bradford, Amy Sherald, Thomas J Price, Anj Smith, Sonia Boyce, Bharti Kher and Mika Rottenberg, alongside prints by modern masters Louise Bourgeois, Luchita Hurtado, Eduardo Chillida, Takesada Matsutani and more. Following Hauser & Wirth’s inauguration of a new dedicated Editions space in New York, the gallery’s ongoing work with prints and editions highlights the important role of printmaking within the multifaceted practices of its international family of artists.
Booth Highlights
Recent works released by Hauser & Wirth Editions in the last six months are showcased in London for the first time, including two screenprints by Rita Ackermann made in collaboration with Keigo Takahashi; an etching by George Condo; a silkscreen by Rashid Johnson; and Mark Bradford’s ‘Rona’ (2023) and Amy Sherald’s ‘As Soft as She Is…’ (2023), both produced in collaboration with Luther Davis, master printer at Powerhouse Arts.
Thomas J Price’s woodblock print, ‘Shattered Times (Camden, Point of Contact #1)’ (2019) is shown alongside works by other London-based artists, including Anj Smith’s copperplate etchings and Sonia Boyce’s ‘Sofia’ (2021), which debuted in her Golden Lion-winning exhibition at the 59th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia (2022). Also on view is a lithograph by the late Phyllida Barlow, one of the last works the artist made before her passing in March 2023.
Prints by modern masters Louise Bourgeois and Luchita Hurtado are offered alongside 20th-century works by Eduardo Chillida presented in tandem with the centenary of the artist’s birth. The booth also includes a selection of historic works by Takesada Matsutani from the 1960s – 1970s—during which time he worked at Atelier 17 in Paris, Stanley William Hayter’s printmaking studio.
Special charitable editions
Hauser & Wirth brings two special charitable editions to LOPF 2024. These include a benefit print by Bharti Kher, ‘Mimesis’ (2023), the proceeds of which will support her upcoming solo exhibition at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, opening on 22 June 2024, and a special edition lamp by Mika Rottenberg created from recycled household plastic titled ‘Earth Edition Series’ (2023) for Earth Day 2024.
On during LOPF 2024
From Thursday 21 March, Yorkshire Sculpture Park (YSP) will present a sale of original prints by artist Robert Indiana, from Gillian and Simon Salama-Caro of The Robert Indiana Legacy Initiative. Hosted at Hauser & Wirth London, the sale supports the charitable aims of YSP.
Hauser & Wirth will be exhibiting from the 21st of March until the 24th of March 2024 at Booth S9 at the London Original Print Fair 2024, Somerset House.
