LONDON — Chain of Hope, the charity dedicated to providing life-saving cardiac care to children in conflict zones and developing nations, announced details today of a major fundraising exhibition and auction at the Saatchi Gallery. The initiative, titled Share Your Heart, brings together an extraordinary roster of artists, designers, and cultural figures—among them Sir Antony Gormley, Shirin Neshat, Idris Khan, Daniel Lismore, Sir Ian McKellen, Stephen Fry, Kate Moss, and Bella Freud—each offering their own artistic response to the campaign’s central theme.

Curated by arts patron Maria Sukkar, the exhibition will feature twelve works available for bidding during a live auction at Saatchi Gallery on Thursday, February 6. The broader collection—59 additional pieces—will be offered in an online auction running from January 28 through February 7.

The artworks, spanning painting, drawing, and photography, explore the heart motif in ways that range from the deeply poignant to the playfully abstract. Highlights include Rana Begum’s luminous composition of prismatic color spheres, evoking her signature explorations of light and materiality. Shezad Dawood reimagines the form through a richly detailed still life of white anthuriums, nodding to the opulent vanitas paintings of 17th-century Dutch masters. Meanwhile, the artist duo Nick and Rob Carter present a shimmering, illusionistic rendering of the iconic heart shape, blurring the line between image and movement.

This rare assembly of one-of-a-kind works—many never before seen—offers collectors a singular opportunity to acquire pieces by leading contemporary artists, all in support of Chain of Hope’s vital mission. With every sale, the exhibition transforms art into action, ensuring more children receive the critical care they need.

Emma Scanlan, CEO of Chain of Hope, highlighted the importance of the Share Your Heart initiative: “It is a little-known fact that one baby in every hundred is born with heart disease. Around the world, many of these children lack access to the life-saving treatment they need. This campaign is a beautiful way to not only raise awareness but also give individuals the opportunity to make a tangible difference. Each piece of art purchased helps us continue our vital work providing treatment for children in developing and war-torn countries through our network of volunteer surgeons and medical teams. Buying a heart isn’t just a unique Valentine’s gift—it’s a link in the Chain to mend children’s hearts.”

Bidding opens at share your heart’s website on January 30th. Your support can help children’s lives; in the last year alone Chain of Hope facilitated 384 complex cardiac procedures around the world for children.

Chain of Hope provides life-saving cardiac care for children in developing and war-torn countries
around the world. Since their inauguration by Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub, FRS, OM in 1996, the
charity has saved the lives of children in 43 countries. Chain of Hope is funded entirely on
donations and does not receive support from the government. Each child’s life that is saved is
thanks to the kindness of our donors and supporters. Maria Sukkar is an art patron renowned for her significant contributions to the art world, including the establishment of the ISelf Collection, which explores themes of birth, love, and sexuality.

In addition to the live auction, an online auction will run from 30 January to 8 February 2025 – allowing a broader audience to participate. Winning bidders within the UK will receive their hearts in time for Valentine’s Day – a gift of love with a profound purpose.

Chain of Hope’s Share Your Heart opens on January 30, 2025, and runs until February 8, 2025, at Saatchi Gallery.
