“I’ve kept these stencils hidden away for years, mindful they could be used as evidence in a charge of criminal damage. But that moment seems to have passed, so now I’m exhibiting them in a gallery as works of art. I’m not sure which is the greater crime” – Banksy

The exhibition seeks to reveal the intricate process behind the creation of Banksy‘s works. Utilizing original stencils, the artist has ingeniously crafted new renditions of several iconic pieces, such as “Kissing Coppers,” which initially graced a wall of the Prince Albert pub in Brighton in 2004.

Another notable inclusion is “Mobile Lovers” from Bristol in 2014, depicting an embracing couple fixated on their screens, peering over each other’s shoulders. Furthermore, the exhibition showcases remarkable relics, including the Union flag stab vest famously worn by Stormzy during his headline performance at Glastonbury in 2019. as well as Banksy’s works from Bethlehem in the West Bank, capturing a pillow fight between an Israeli soldier and a Palestinian citizen.

Banksy: Cut and Run 25 years card labour” opens at the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) in Glasgow this weekend. The exhibition presents a comprehensive journey through Banksy’s artistic evolution from 1988 to the present day.
