Who is Afraid of Red, Blue and Yellow?
Ugo Rondinone & Tarek Lakhrissi
Reiffers Art Initiatives Mentorship Exhibition 2024
October 16 to November 16, 2024
Reiffers Art Initiatives
30, rue des Acacias, 75017 Paris
Each year, Reiffers Art Initiatives invites a major international figure in contemporary art to mentor an emerging artist from the French art scene. For 2024, the mentor role has been entrusted to Ugo Rondinone, following in the footsteps of Rashid Johnson (2021), Kehinde Wiley (2022), and Lorna Simpson (2023). Ugo Rondinone has chosen to support and guide Tarek Lakhrissi, selected from a group of emerging artists proposed by the Reiffers Art Initiatives’ Artistic Committee. This committee is composed of international figures from the worlds of art and culture, whose role is to advise and identify promising young talents from the French art scene.
Ugo Rondinone, born in 1964 in Brunnen, Switzerland, moved to New York in 1997, where he still maintains a studio. His work has been the subject of recent institutional exhibitions at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris (2022), the Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista di Venezia in Venice (2022), the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire in Geneva (2023), Storm King in New York (2023), the Städel Museum in Frankfurt (2023), and Museum SAN in Wonju (2024). He represented Switzerland at the 52nd Venice Biennale in 2007.
The Reiffers Art Initiatives Artistic Committee includes:

Ugo Rondinone is recognized as one of the leading artists of his generation. Through his paintings, sculptures, installations, videos, and performances, he crafts powerful meditations on nature and the human condition, creating a formal vocabulary that merges various sculptural and pictorial traditions. His hybrid forms, borrowing from both classical and modern references, blend pathos with humor as they tackle the most urgent issues of our time.
Visual artist and poet Tarek Lakhrissi develops his practice across various media, including writing, performance, video, and sculpture. Words and language lie at the heart of his work. By exploring poetry, popular culture, and emotional landscapes, Tarek Lakhrissi’s works redefine an emancipatory imagination and anticipate a future that is equally liberated.
About Reiffers Art Initiatives
Founded in 2021 by Paul-Emmanuel Reiffers, President and Founder of Mazarine, a communications group specializing in luxury, fashion, and art, Reiffers Art Initiatives is a philanthropic endowment fund dedicated to supporting emerging contemporary artists and promoting cultural diversity. Its mission is to support, finance, exhibit, and provide visibility to the emerging figures of tomorrow’s contemporary art scene. Each year, the fund initiates several actions: a mentorship exhibition pairing a young talent with an internationally renowned artist during Art Basel Paris, and a collective exhibition in the spring, accompanied by a prize spotlighting a young talent from the emerging art scene.
Who is Afraid of Red, Blue and Yellow? will open on October 16, 2024, and run until November 16, 2024, at Reiffers Art Initiatives.
