VOLTA Basel
June 12-18, 2023
Klybeck 610, Klybeckplatz, 2 Gärtnerstrasse, 4057 Basel
VOLTA Basel has published its gallery list: Over 30 galleries are taking part in the current edition of the satellite fair. The curation focuses on internationality and exclusivity. With its future-oriented approach, VOLTA aims to set a new focus in Basel and facilitate the global artistic dialogue.
Among the exhibiting galleries are: Sobering (Paris), Victor Lope (Spain), Ethan Cohen (New York), LEE & BAE (South Korea), Africarty (Morocco), Artemis Art (Malaysia), ARKA (Lithuania), NL=US (Netherlands), Galerie Thomas Fuchs and Galerie Heike Strelow (both Germany) as well as local Swiss galleries such as Atelier Toru Wada, Lechbinska and Artstübli Gallery (all Basel and Zurich). Artists on show include: Anica Hauswald, Hendrik Zimmer, Alice Quaresma, Logan T. Sibrel, Alireza Varzandeh, Alyona Volkova, Mihei Her, Meda Norbutaitė and Flavio Senoner.
The new location in Klybeck 610 at Gärtnerstrasse 2 also makes its mark: Klybeck 610 is an architectural gem designed by the architects Suter + Suter in 1967. The outside garden will host a sculpture park, also curated by VOLTA Art Fair. Klybeck 610 is located in theKlybeck quarter, formerly an industrial area that is now a center of transformation and sign of the city’s future. VOLTA Basel invites visitors to rediscover Basel -only 20 minutes’ walk or 5 minutes by shuttle from Art Basel.
Founded in Basel in 2005 as a collaboration between dealers and friends, VOLTA Art Fairs quickly grew into a platform that supported ambitious international galleries to participate in the art markets ́major cities. VOLTA New York shortly followed in 2008.
Throughout its life, VOLTA has responded to the external markets and ambition of our international galleries. As a result, VOLTA presents forward thinking curations that hold a truly unique and international artistic dialogue for collectors to discover, connect with and collect.
ABOUT VOLTA ART FAIR
VOLTA Art Fair supports galleries in staging ambitious solo and group presentations, refining the experience to its essential elements: the artists and their work. This focus on compelling visual statements by up-and-coming and established artists cultivates a vibrant and approachable environment of discovery for the engaged collector.
VOLTA debuted in Basel in 2005 aimed as a platform for ambitious international galleries to participate in the art markets’ major cities. VOLTA’s New York fair followed in 2008, with a focus on solo presentations that offered an alternative to the crowded trade show tradition of New York fair weeks. In autumn 2019, VOLTA was acquired by Ramsay Fairs.
