All Imperfections Included,’ the highly anticipated solo exhibition by Torrick ‘TOXIC’ Ablack, running from 26th September to 31st October 2024.

TOXIC, known for his pivotal role in the 1980s graffiti movement, TOXIC will present a new collection of paintings alongside earlier works and archival material that highlight his artistic journey. Additionally, the exhibition will feature an exclusive and first-time production of a limited edition print release of fifty, plus five AP works on paper.

The works featured in ‘All Imperfections Included’ delve into dreams and thoughts, intertwining vibrant colours and abstract shapes to convey a layered narrative of introspection. For the first time, TOXIC reveals himself fully in an exhibition, embracing his imperfections and presenting an unfiltered portrayal of his true self. This marks a departure from the idealised image of the artist, shifting toward a more human representation—acknowledging flaws and finding beauty in imperfection. The exhibition explores themes of acceptance, awareness, and self-affirmation, portraying TOXIC as an emotional and complex individual.

The artworks in the main gallery were created specifically for this show, employing a hybrid technique that merges acrylic-painted backgrounds with abstract spray-painted figures. As visitors navigate the exhibition, they will encounter significant moments from the 1980s graffiti movement, a period when galleries began embracing graffiti as art. Archival materials, including exhibition posters, publications, and early works, offer insights into TOXIC’s artistic journey from his beginnings in the Bronx to his current artistic evolution.

Lifelong friend and renowned artist Lee Quinones, widely regarded as the most influential figure to emerge from the New York City subway art movement, shared his thoughts on ‘All Imperfections Included’:

A new set of TOXIC paintings will enter the station in 2024, and they will proclaim forward-thinking. Should they, will they, be enclosed and defined by a place or a circumstance in a bygone era? … well, if you think so, that’s your error. You’re in for a fantastical journey and discovery, just as TOXIC has been, but only if your lenses are open
