The Royal College of Art, the world’s leading art and design university, presents a 3-day intensive short course, Present Futures: Virtual and Augmented Reality in Art, running from 9-13th May 2024, offers practical insights into the fascinating world of VR/AR and how these new technologies are changing contemporary art and its institutions.
This course offers an unprecedented opportunity for those interested in combining virtual and augmented realities (VR/AR) with contemporary art. It is led by RCA’s John Slyce and Daniel Birnbaum from Acute Art and provides multiple perspectives on how virtual media will expand the ways we create present, and experience art.
In the 2024 programme, you will have the opportunity to interact with guest contributors both in-person and online. These contributors include renowned names such as Es Devlin (Artist and Stage Designer), Marco Brambilla (Artist and Film Director), Hans Ulrich Obrist (Curator and Director of the Serpentine Gallery), Simon Fox (CEO, Frieze Art Fairs) and many others. During the programme, they will share their experiences and insights on how they are engaging with, exhibiting, collecting, negotiating, and understanding the impact of new technologies on the art world ecosystem.
