Paul Smith’s Foundation is delighted to announce the appointment of three new trustees from the world of art and culture. The new appointments are:
- Toby Monk, Global Recruitment & Engagement Director at Christie’s
- Mary Findlay, Senior Art Curator at Deutsche Bank
- Heather Sturdy, Head of National Partnerships at Tate
Paul Smith’s Foundation is grateful for the generous support of Rosanna Cundall in the recruitment process. Rosanna is Partner for Arts, Culture and Creative Industries at executive search firm Saxton Bampfylde.
Martha Mosse, Director of Paul Smith’s Foundation, said: “We are delighted to welcome this exceptional group of art-world heavyweights to our trustee network. Each bring with them specific expertise in areas such as governance, art market and development, and are joining at a perfect moment to build upon our existing momentum and contribute to the national and international growth of the Foundation. It says something about Paul’s Foundation that we have attracted this level of talent and enthusiasm, and we are very excited to see what the future holds under their stewardship.
The new trustees take up their roles immediately, joining the charity board chaired by Sir Paul Smith. They are appointed to support the growth and development of Paul’s Foundation both nationally and internationally, specifically in the areas of governance, visual art market, and development.
Toby Monk is a senior HR leader, currently a Global Director at Christie’s, where he spearheads inclusive talent strategies and engagement. He brings a strong track record in building equitable pathways into the arts, notably through Christie’s pioneering apprenticeship programme. A former Chair and current Trustee of Art History Link-Up, Toby has championed access to art education for state-supported students, helping expand the charity’s reach and impact. His leadership blends commercial insight with a deep commitment to social mobility and the arts.
Mary Findlay is Senior Art Curator for Deutsche Bank, where she has worked since 1996. She has responsibility for the bank’s art activities in the UK and US, including the collection, acquisitions, and partnerships. She has worked on the bank’s global collaboration with Frieze Art Fair since the partnership started in 2004, including developing community projects such as the Deutsche Bank Frieze Los Angeles Film Award and the Deutsche Bank Frieze Emerging Curators Fellowship.
Heather Sturdy is the Head of National Partnerships at Tate, where she leads a team in delivering national activity and projects including the British Art Network, the Plus Tate network, the Turner Prize when hosted outside of London, the national tour of Grenfell by Steve McQueen, and many other national collaborations. Previous roles include Head of Programmes and Public Sector at Tate, as well as fundraising and public programming roles at the South London Gallery, Frieze Art Fair, and the V&A.
