The ARX launched on Brompton Road in London’s Knightsbridge earlier this year and is already making waves in London’s art scene. The gallery’s concept is to showcase world-famous artists such as Basquiat, Banksy, Hirst, KAWS and Harland Miller alongside emerging artists in an exclusive, multi sensory four-floor space. With a gallery opening shortly on New York’s Madison Avenue and plans to expand into other leading international markets, The ARX is on track to becoming an industry heavy hitter.
The ARX experience begins on the street, where the windows to the immense 15,000sq ft neo-industrial interiors are concealed by dynamic screens displaying digital works and NFT art.
“Our portfolio spans from the traditional to the digital,” says Lord. While blue-chip art is readily sourced through Lord’s long-standing connections with esteemed dealers, discovering and championing fresh talent is key to the gallery’s ethos. Whether this is through quarterly solo shows of emerging artists or artists’ residencies.
Russian-born artist Maria Kreyn is currently The ARX’s first artist-in-residence, painting her monumental canvasses, which blend Old Master techniques with a contemporary sensibility, in the ARX’s ground floor space.
Kreyn’s unique style recently drew the attention of Andrew Lloyd Webber, who commissioned eight of her works for his US$82 million renovations of Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
The gallery’s inaugural exhibition was an impressive solo showcase of works by the American contemporary street artist and founder of OBEY Clothing, Shepard Fairey, setting a trailblazing and varied programme precedent. The ARX has held pioneering exhibitions featuring New York-based artist Bisco Smith and visual artist Brian Sanchez. Later in the year, there will be a solo exhibition of LA street artist Louis Carreon, spanning twelve pivotal works exclusively created for the show.
The ARX will create conversations around international trends, creating hubs for global artistic communities. Having already broken through the London and digital art markets, and with New York on the horizon, The ARX is the ultimate curated experience for those
looking to start or expand their collections.
