An exclusive art talk with Xavier Leopold: ‘In Conversation with Sarah Staton’ — exploring sculpture, storytelling, and social impact
In an evening set to distinguish itself among this season’s most engaging London art talks, artist Xavier Leopold will be in conversation with Sarah Staton, Senior Tutor of Sculpture at the Royal College of Art. Taking place at Dulwich Picture Gallery, this exclusive event offers rare insight into Leopold’s sculptural practice, narrative approach, and socially engaged philosophy.

The programme will include a preview of a new sculpture, presented ahead of Leopold’s forthcoming degree show at the Royal College of Art, where he is currently studying for an MA in Sculpture as a Sir Frank Bowling Scholar.
Leopold began his artistic career during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, while working full-time as a City Trader. Since then, he has held two solo exhibitions in London and participated in several group shows across Europe. In 2023, he debuted his first sculpture at the Mall Galleries, marking a significant development in his practice.

Beyond the studio, Leopold is a committed advocate for mental wellbeing. In 2022, he authored and illustrated Art for the Heart, a children’s activity journal designed to encourage emotional resilience through creativity. The book is distributed internationally and held in the collections of MoMA New York, Tate London, and the Black Cultural Archives in Brixton. He also leads arts-based wellbeing workshops in primary schools across London.
Xavier Leopold in Conversation with Sarah Staton starts on the 18th May 2025 from 3:30pm – 5:00pm at Dulwich Picture Gallery
