This autumn, painters Jemma Powell and Leah Wood present Tracing Time, a joint exhibition at Roof Gardens, the private members’ club in Kensington. Running from 16 to 29 October 2025, the show inaugurates the venue’s new gallery space.
The exhibition stages a dialogue between Powell’s abstract, textural cityscapes and Wood’s impressionistic landscapes, exploring how both urban and natural environments shape identity and mark the passage of time.
Powell’s oil paintings draw from rooftop vantage points across London, tracing the city’s architecture across eras. Her canvases capture the interplay of skyscrapers, historic structures and shifting skylines, where colour and form combine to mirror the rhythm and energy of metropolitan life.

Wood’s works turn to nature, focusing on expansive skies, rolling hills and flowing water. Her landscapes convey the fragility and transience of the natural world, painted with vivid, expressive strokes that suggest fleeting moments within changing seasons.
Tracing Time also extends beyond the gallery. Powell and Wood are collaborating with TimeGivers, a London-based charity connecting children and young people with their communities through volunteering. Part of the exhibition proceeds will support the organisation, and the artists will contribute to a permanent mural in Feltham, West London, created with students, local residents and volunteers.
Through this dual lens of city and countryside, Tracing Time positions painting as both record and reflection — an exploration of how place, memory and time converge in shaping human experience.
