Tickets are now on sale for Lightroom – a brand new, artists-led immersive venue set to open in London in January 2023. The space – packed with the latest in AV technology, includes a HOLOPLOT X1 Matrix Array sound system, the first fixed installation in the UK.
At first glance an inconspicuous cuboid venue, Lightroom presents a blank canvas set to host a varied programme of original creative content. The opening show ‘DAVID HOCKNEY: BIGGER AND CLOSER not smaller and further away” will be the first run in a series of original exhibitions, created in collaboration with leading artists and innovators.
The Hockney experience aspires to be visually astonishing and alive with sound, including a specially composed score written by Nico Muhly with sound design by Olivier and Tony award-winning sound designer Gareth Fry – guaranteed to generate new perspectives for the audience.
Lightroom is a joint venture between 59 Productions, an award-winning design studio and production company and London Theatre Company, the creative engine behind the Bridge Theatre. Speaking on the venue’s choice of sound system, Richard Slaney, CEO of Lightroom, states “HOLOPLOT represents a unique opportunity for us to create compelling sound worlds for our audiences, and exemplifies Lightroom’s ambition to use cutting edge technology to create spectacular artist-led shows.”
“X1 has been deployed on some exceptional projects, all harnessing the power of our technology to create extraordinary experiences. Lightroom fits this calibre of enterprise, providing a limitless environment for artists to play within,” adds Roman Sick, CEO HOLOPLOT
Installed by industry-leading HOLOPLOT partner Creative Technology, the HOLOPLOT sound system will consist of two X1 arrays at either end of the room. Each array consists of four X1 Modul 96s and four X1 Modul 80-S, embedded and entirely hidden within wall cavities, making for an unspoilt 360 degree projection surface.
“We’re very excited to work with HOLOPLOT and 59 Productions on Lightroom, the UK’s first installation of a HOLOPLOT system using their X1 modules,” concludes Jack Strong, Business Development (Integrations), Creative Technology. “This is a venue set to be a fantastic addition to London’s permanent immersive experience landscape.”
