Oolite Arts is pleased to present BOUNCE, an energetic exhibition curated by Storm Ascher. BOUNCE will feature international and Miami-based artists whose works translate the essence of movement into static pieces of art. This will be Ascher’s Miami curatorial debut — and she’s bringing the vibe.

The title evokes Miami’s famous club culture, and welcomes that ambiance into the gallery space, with a collection of sculptures, paintings, and photographs that exude vitality, movement, and passion. Coinciding with the renowned Art Basel Miami Beach, the exhibition will run from October 18 through January 21, 2024, with an opening reception on October 18 from 6 to 8 pm.

BOUNCE includes work from a diverse group of emerging artists, including Oolite Arts residents and alums: PJ Harper, Roscoé B. Thické III, John Rivas, Alex Anderson, Maya Beverly, Diana Eusebio, Emiliana Henriquez, Ale Moros, and Kelly Shami.

From a cat poised to leap to the cascading of Spanish moss, each of the pieces in the show brings their own dynamic energy to the space, pulsating with character and movement. PJ Harper, for example, conveys the toss of a woman’s hair as she emerges from the ocean in a new ceramic work. Miami-based artist Roscoé B. Thické III conjures the music and dance that filled his grandmother’s home during family gatherings. John Rivas depicts a diamond-encrusted pendant containing a photo of his grandmother bouncing on a gold chain around his neck.

“Bounce is an intricate dance that arrests motion within the static confines of art, inviting contemplation and reflection,” writes Ascher. The exhibition will present an “enticing visual journey that celebrates the dynamic interplay between stasis and motion.” Viewed together, the works create a scintillating experience of color, texture, and form that reverberates throughout the space.

BOUNCE Curated By Storm Ascher opens on the 18th October until the 21st of Janaury 2024 at Oolitearts
