The All Shades of Brown Creative Conference will take place on Thursday, 27th February 2025, from 10 AM to 5 PM, at The Venue, De Montfort University (DMU), Leicester. Organised by Opal22 Arts and Edutainment, this ground breaking event aims to challenge disparities in the creative industry by empowering underrepresented voices and foster a more inclusive creative community.
The All Shade of Brown Creative Conference will offer Black and Brown creatives a unique opportunity to connect with industry professionals, build meaningful networks and gain practical tools for growth and success.

Featuring keynote speakers Pogus Caesar, an internationally recognised artist, activist, and archivist photographer and Gaylene Gould, a cultural strategist, curator and activist who has dedicated the last 30 years of her career to advocate for diversity and equity in the arts.
Attendees will experience a dynamic program designed to uplift, including:
● Panel Discussions exploring key topics on accessibility in creative industries, environmental sustainability, mentorship and funding strategies.
● Interactive Workshops to gain practical tools and advice on funding applications, professional development, and navigating the creative landscape.
● Art Showcases to celebrate the vibrant creativity of emerging and local talent in an inspiring exhibition featuring works from across the Midlands.
Tara Munroe, Creative Director at Arts and Edutainment organisation, Opal22 said We’re so excited to kick off the conversation! Our first-ever conference is bringing together an amazing mix of creative professionals to lead workshops, stalls, exhibitions, and performances. You’ll get to hear from inspiring artists like Jeneafer Jean-Charles MBE, known for her award-winning performances on Black identity, Christopher Samuels, a multidisciplinary artist blending social and disability activism into his work, and Art Reach known for Journeys Festival and Impact Network for Creatives, who will be providing 15-minute surgeries to aid creative practitioners seeking advice on their creative journeys.
