Alia Ali’s new body of work ‘FLOW’ (2021) is a series of sculptural photographs that focuses primarily on ikat textiles, a special cloth considered one of the ‘sacred fabrics.’ While its origins are thought to be in Java, the ikat technique has roots all over the world, including India, Uzbekistan, Argentina, Bolivia, Mexico, Yemen, and Central and Southeast Asia.
