Once inside, guests can discover, chat with and buy 1000s of original works and prints directly from 150 exciting emerging artists, with prices starting from just £100. Marking the 62nd global edition of The Other Art Fair and the 23rd fair in London, this event features a refreshing 50/50 split of male to female artists, with 50% of exhibitors based in London and 9% BIPOC creators. Highlights include an exciting array of outstanding emerging painters, printmakers, photographic works, collages and sculptures. See the full artist list here.

For the fashion focused, Evelyn Morgan is a must see – her contemporary, colourful collages and paintings are inspired by make-up artistry and are very a la mode. Similarly, Dutch painter Charlotte Greevan’s work straddles fashion illustration and fine art with bold lines and elegant details. If you’re looking for something a little more subtle, the abstract and emotive canvases by Michelle Yap are the perfect edition to the modern, minimalist apartment.

Tim Muddiman’s brutalist cityscapes are a hipster’s dream, bringing constructivist elements and muted tones to studies of culturally significant budlings such as the Trellick Tower. A contemporary Edward Hopper, Brendan Kramp’s oil paintings capture urban life with style and substance. After something more decorative, look no further than Assia Bennani the Moroccan-born London-based artist who lived in Hong Kong for 13 years, and draws influence from her multi-cultural experience and interior design background.

Always an accessible entry point into art collecting, the fair features some of the best artists working in contemporary print today. Amy Gardner’s feminist prints celebrate powerful women with a stylistic 1950’s twist. Just like Amy herself, the works are non-apologetic, non-conformist, and bold. Another daring creator, Redbellyboy combines the languages of graphic design and fine art to produce uplifting and vibrant prints for a sunny, happy home. If something subtle is more your taste, look no further than Liz Whiteman Smith’s gorgeous landscape screen-prints, capturing the essence of beautiful spots across the globe. Exploring similar subject matter in a totally different style, Lucille Clerc creates botanical and architectural prints of sites like Kew Gardens and Big Ben.

For the budding photography collector, Nadia Attura is well worth checking out. Her work is tropical and cutting-edge contemporary – reminding us of sunnier climates in dark winters. A much darker tone comes through Paul Gadd’s analogue work, leaning towards the gothic and a leap away from his prestigious background as a catwalk photographer. Unmissable for all and taking a totally original approach, is photographer Helga Stentzel, praised by The Times for her humorous photos that playfully utilise household objects to form shapes familiar yet distorted. Meeting the guest artists in person and discovering The Other Art Fair’s unique programme of special features are always highly anticipated elements, and this October is no exception.

Sara Shakeel - Naked is fine

Pakistani-raised, London-based artist Sara Shakeel is a bonafide Instagram sensation with 1 million followers. The dentist-turned artist has been lauded by the likes of Vogue and The Financial Times for her Swarovski crystal embellished works. As the fair’s Guest Artist, not only will Sara present a series of stunning new original works and specially priced posters, she will also create a fully immersive spider-inspired installation piece, in anticipation of Halloween and celebrating her love of all things ‘witchy’. This is Sara’s first exhibition where her work is also available to buy, offering visitors the opportunity to come and meet her in person while enjoying her incredible new creations.

Laurie Vincent, half of the Mercury Prize nominated punk duo Slaves, will be an unmissable highlight. The multi-talented musician and visual artist will be publicly displaying his artworks for the first time since 2019. The collection, entitled ‘It’s Been a Fever Dream’, brings together his introspective, humorous and poignant original drawings, many of which draw on his personal biography. The work offers the chance to gain a deeper insight into Vincent, whether a fan of his music or his art, plus he will be present at the fair to chat all about it.

There will be poetry readings by poet and artist Gommie, who incorporates the written word, performance, painting, illustration and travel into his work. Gommie trained and worked as an actor before moving into the visual arts in 2016, as a response to Brexit. He quickly made a name for himself, winning “The Soho House Mentorship Award” and producing solo shows with Messums Gallery and Daniel Raphael Gallery.

Chef Jay Sharp and artist Phoebe Boddy will be bringing food back to the fair with their Hash-Hut. Meanwhile, there’ll be live tattooing on-site by artist Charlotte Mallory, all soundtracked byDJs throughout the weekend. Alongside taking home paintings and prints, for the first time ever, visitors can also buy t-shirts and tote bags designed by a selection of the fair’s exhibiting artists at The Other Art Store. Seek out affordable and quality artworks just waiting to adorn your walls, get your hands on creative clothes to update your wardrobe, have unique memorable experiences, meet leading artists, and perhaps even get a tattoo – what’s not to love.

From humble beginnings in a South London warehouse to hosting multiple annual fairs across the globe, The Other Art Fair has become an international platform at the forefront of affordable contemporary art. In 2011, 40-year-old Londoner Ryan Stainer founded the fair to bridge the gap between exciting emerging artists and people looking to start their collections. Since then, The Other Art Fair has carved out an entirely unique niche – directly connecting artists and buyers through an immersive and unusual event that is always much more than a traditional art fair.

What makes The Other Art Fair ‘other’ is its unique ethos – since its inception the fundamental aims have remain the same. Namely, supporting emerging artists, combating the invisible barriers of the artworld, and creating a relaxed, evocative, fun and inclusive environment through an exciting features programme. The fair reframes how art can be experienced and celebrates creativity in all its forms.

The 2022 October London selection committee includes Rebecca Wilson, Chief Curator and VP Art Advisory, Saatchi Art, Elli Jason Foster, Managing Director and Millie Jason Foster, Director, Gillian Jason Gallery.
