Upsilon Gallery proudly announces its expansion to London with the launch of a new flagship space in Mayfair. Founded in 2016 in New York by Marcelo Zimmler, Upsilon has quickly established itself as an exciting, growing international art gallery and fine art print publisher, specialising in post-war and contemporary art.

This marks Upsilon’s first permanent international location, joining its outposts in New York and Miami. Visitors are invited to explore the gallery from 19 August, ahead of its grand opening on 12 September.

Located at 64 Grosvenor Street, Upsilon, London, will occupy approximately 3,000 sq ft over two floors, presenting a dynamic programme of exhibitions, talks, panel discussions, and book signings.

Marcelo Zimmler, Founder of Upsilon Gallery, ‘We are incredibly excited to open our new gallery in Mayfair, marking the next stage in Upsilon’s growth and development. This historic area, home to some of the world’s most prominent galleries and auction houses, offers a vibrant and prestigious setting for us to introduce our diverse roster of artists to new audiences. We look forward to bringing something fresh and innovative to the London art scene, reflecting our commitment to both rediscovered and emerging talents’

Continuing Upsilon’s mission to champion historically overlooked artists, the new gallery will also focus on nurturing new talent and amplifying marginalised voices within the art world. The gallery aims to showcase artists lesser known in the UK, bringing them to global audiences. Upsilon particularly focuses on European artists who have migrated to the US within movements such as Minimalism, Colour Field, Pop, and Abstract Expressionism. Its vision is to cultivate transatlantic dialogue driven by quality, academic scholarship, and innovation. The Mayfair gallery will be led by Managing Director Nolan Browne, supported by Directors Jade Straker and Lana Ivanyukhina.

Inaugural Exhibition

The inaugural exhibition, running from 19 August to 21 September 2024 will be a dynamic group show, featuring the gallery’s core artists. It will present a kaleidoscope of vibrant, colourful, and celebratory works that highlight Upsilon’s international and thematic approach. The exhibition will showcase works by a stellar lineup of artists, including Italian-American Osvaldo Mariscotti, American talents Francine Tint, Willard Boepple, Susan Roth, Nicolas Carone, Duane Bousfield, and Stephen Bezas,
German painter Bernd Zimmer, Colombian sculptor Edgar Negret, Chinese-born German artist Xinyan Zhang, German-American artist Ali Eckert, British painter Clyde Hopkins and Royal Academy artist Vanessa Jackson.

Exhibition highlights will include Black Beauty (2013) and Color Symphony 49 Triptych (2016) by Osvaldo Mariscotti. Mariscotti’s work explores human perception and the interaction of form and colour, combining elements of chance with mathematical precision to create a ripple effect that extends beyond the canvas.
